The Paradise Historical Society

Presents

“The Chaplain Died
at Gettysburg”

Sunday, June 13, 2021

2:00 pm at the

Paradise Township Roof

We are back from the covid pandemic and our first guest speaker of the year will be John Abel.  He will tell us the story of the Rev. Horatio Howell, a minister from Delaware Water Gap.  John has kept busy during the pandemic doing research about this gentleman and his participation in the Civil War. John is an author and award-winning playwright and we are fortunate to have him as a member of our society.

We will be outside at The Roof (Keokee Chapel Lane).  Those vaccinated do not need to wear a mask. Non vaccinated persons should wear a mask.  Feel free to bring a lawn chair if you do not want to sit at the picnic tables.  Refreshments will be served.

Upcoming Meetings:

Our next meeting will also be outdoors as we take a hike through one of Paradise Valley’s trails led by Carol Hillestad.  Save July 11 for this event.

On August 8, we plan to revisit the Paradise Lutheran Presbyterian Cemetery, the first cemetery and church in Paradise Township.  We cleaned this cemetery up a few years ago and the township work crew has been maintaining it since.  We are looking for people who may have relatives buried here who could share their stories with us.

If you have any questions about these events, feel free to contact Laura Layton at (570) 839-5702.
